So apparently they released a patch for Fallout 76 that broke an existing patch to fix a patch. It's getting pretty crazy.

Not sure if you're a fan of the older Fallouts, but apparently Atom RPG is a very good spiritual successor that acts like a proper "Fallout 3". It's on sale at GoG right now.

I don't know if you have seen the interview Todd from Bethesda did. Essentially he admits they knew Fallout 76 was bad ahead of time.

Yep. He also says he knew fans would not like horse armour, but we'll "buy anything". Pretty sure that was his driving motto behind 76.
Bethesda's reputation was already pretty bad, but all it would have taken was an apology and a promise to make it right. Todd made it so much worse.

I doubt it will have any impact on ES6, the games sell so well going full GaaS isn't really necessary for them, it's just now we KNOW the games have been so buggy all these years because Todd didn't give a damn, not because the games were just so big and complicated.

Now that we're in the summer and the room where my PS4 is tends to get way too hot to keep it cool, I tend to play more Xbox and PS2 games...which means I'll finally get around to finishing off Fallout New Vegas. Also grabbed a bunch of games from Game Pass PC including some former Xbox exclusives. Damn good value for just $1. More like extended rentals of digital only PC games, but still, terrific value.

Bethesda has launched a new premium subscription, called fallout first for F76. It's been roundly mocked and unfortunately for Bethesda, they didn't secure the website domain name, and somebody has been using it to troll them.

Huh. Amazon just announced they're doing a TV series based on the Fallout franchise. It will be helmed by the same people who did Westworld.
And on that note, Fallout 76 just became available on Game Pass. And it doesn't contain any root kit-style anti-cheats.

Apparently there's been an on going lawsuit about fallout 4. Essentially it's about whether or not creation club counts as DLC and therefore included on the season pass. It could potentially delay the deal with Microsoft going through, though I suspect Bethesda will settle the case.

Looking into it a bit, the problem has to do with who owns Creation Club mods, which Bethesda has claimed is DLC and charged money for, but the lawsuit is arguing mods were never meant to be treated as paid DLC. Or something. Honestly, I haven't done that much research with it, but the reason why it's holding up the sale is because the plaintiff successfully passed a motion to block the sale until the matter is settled because the plaintiff is right to worry Bethesda will just hide behind MS.

Have you ever played any of Fallout 4 DLC? Is Nuka World worth it? I'm asking because Far Harbour is just $5, but I could get it and Nuka for $9; however, I could get the season pass AND THE GAME for $13. I already own the game, so there isn't much point in getting a digital version (unless it's DRM free which will likely never happen again because of MS), but I don't see much point in spending a little more for the extra DLC if the only good one is Far Harbour.
Mind you, my issue here is not the cost but the fact the complete game plus DLC download is different from buying the DLC individually. Buying them individually ties them to your account whereas buying them complete with the game forever ties the DLC to that particular download.

Far Harbour, certainly. I've seen it described as what Fallout 4 should have been and plays kind of like a miniature New Vegas. Nuka World is the one where people seemed to be very mixed.

I guess my exploits in New Vegas should go here rather than clogging up the Now Playing thread.
So I finished off Lonesome Road which means I completed all of the DLC for New Vegas for the first time in 10 years. Surprisingly, the DLC was enough to level my original character from 30 all the way to just shy of 50 which I reached in about 15 minutes. Didn't enjoy Lonesome Road all that much. I kind of found Ulysses annoying, and the tunnelers felt more cheap than challenging, plus all the one-shot ambushes got a little annoying. Lots of nice loot, though, and you can bring a low level character into the DLC for easy exp and high level loot. The bonuses to EDE also make him by far the best companion.
Anyway, my original character was just an exploratory build, although he was all explosives and laser focused. Before that I did a Kill the World build which ended up as sort of a tank with some melee centric abilities. Started a "Mutant" build that was all weird perks, but without a key focus it got a little dull, so now onto my Cowboy build.
Gotta say, after so much game time just running around looting and shooting whatever, feels weird getting back to quests. Kind of dull, really. Maybe if I had a better idea of where to go to start quests it would be easier, but I never really sought quests my first time around. Most of my gameplay so far has just been shooting for the top Cowboy relevant gear...and it's actually pretty easy to get all of it. I already have every gun that works with the Cowboy perk except for the two wielded by special NPCs.

If you're wondering about the "weirder" perks in New Vegas, I've got a build dedicated to the stranger perks in the game, notably the mutation and radiation perks. I can tell you now the perk that increases your HP regen as your Rad levels goes up is actually pretty good. 1 HP regen is barely noticeable, but 6 HP is pretty rapid. Shame the next good perk for this build is a lv.20 perk.

Someone has recreated New Vegas using Fallout 4's engine. So far they have only recreated the southwest corner of the map around Primm and the Vegas Strip, and there is only placeholder voice acting at the moment, but it's still incredibly impressive, AND they've recreated all of Vegas' unique weapons including new special effects. Apparently people are demanding Bethesda adds the mod to the Collector's Club.
The other night I realized I have never actually used any of the common firearms in the game. Energy, flame, and melee weapons, sure, but none of those rifles and shotguns or any of that (well, the lever action ones in the cowboy build, but that's actually a small list; I ended up getting ALL of the unique Cowboy weapons before Lv.16). So, I created a "soldier" build for the NCR questlines and just random run and gunning. It's okay so far. Quickly being reminded that Fallout games should definitely not be played like run and gun shooters (like Operation Anchorage taught us).
As for that cowboy build, surprised at how few rifles and shotguns are available for it (which is weird because there were plenty of shotgun models during the 1800s, not just lever action ones). Started using more heavy rifles and shotguns. Discovered the Ratslayer which doesn't seem like much but it deals 5x crit damage with very common ammo and it has all sorts of mods. One of those guns that starts out pretty blah but really scales up at high levels.

Wish sticking mines in peoples' pockets was more viable. Sure, it works, but they often blow up in your face. I've found C4 works better. Then it only goes off when you detonate it.
