Pretty sure you trigger an ambush as you leave the place. Tougher guys, at least if you're a low level.

Didn't trigger an ambush when I left. I did fast travel to the diner to unload stuff. Got attacked there, but pretty sure that was a co-incidence. A bit of shotgun surgery sorted that problem out.

Huh. Maybe it was a coincidence. As I left the place via the back entrance, a group of raiders in the Lv.15 range (I was like 13) appeared and said something about returning to the base. It was actually a pretty exciting encounter because they were all spread out and going from tree to tree. Very Western style shoot-out.

Gah! I hate exploring the downtown core. There's constant fighting, nasty slowdown, and tons of unmarked locations practically around every block. And yet despite all that, I've yet to discover anything save for a couple magazines and a whole new town which is admittingly the most interesting town in the game. It took an entire session just to explore the area around the Ruined Skyway. And SO many loading screens! Yeesh. What's worst, I feel like I'm missing something.
Oh, well. It's my last location to explore before I'm done with my exploration run. Then I have to go back and properly finish New Vegas before I can get back to this. Man, my backlog has gotten bad.

Oh, I beat it and fully explored the world, but that was just one build. Finishing the story doesn't count as "completing" the game for me.

Do everything you can possibly do with a game. I haven't done a stealth build, a cowboy build, a luck build, a pure charisma build, a "kill the world" build...lots of ideas. I also haven't done any of the DLC and I was specifically avoiding non-story quests, so I'm sure there are a bunch I missed, and I certainly didn't find every unique weapon. Either I get everything I can out of the game or I get bored of it.
I don't get these people who play games just for the sake of saying they beat them (I call them "fast food gamers"). I guess they must not like their games very much if they're not willing to enjoy every aspect of the experience, in which case, I wonder why they're gaming in the first place.

Oh right. You may want to consider a guide if you've not done all the companion quests. Some get locked out after a certain. Others are badly bugged. I'm actually considering another Skyrim run to try and get the pirate armour/swords early. By the time I usually get them, my current gear is usually better.

I use the Wikis when it comes to finding everything. It's impossible set up everything just right without them.
Official published guides are a joke. Most of them are flat-out wrong.

Ah, her. I couldn't get near her. Not because of her, but because whenever I went anywhere near the trading post where she is at, the game froze. Didn't matter what I did. If I got anywhere within, I would guess, 50 yards or so and then looked directly at the town, the game froze. Happened 10 times out of 10. Eventually she drifted to the edge of town where I talked to her, but then the game froze again.
It's the ONLY major glitch I encountered while playing New Vegas.
I lot like the honey ranch in Skyrim, actually. I had to walk backwards to reach the island without the game freezing.

Still less than the others I've heard about. I encountered far more issues in Fallout 3 (I had an entire save destroyed) and Oblivion (froze roughly every hour).
Fallout 3 I played until I completely burnt out on it. Kind of ended on a sour note. Mothership Zeta was pretty lame and I lost the aforementioned save. Didn't feel like all of the builds I played were all that unique anyway. Even with my "no combat, all companion/leadership" build", I still found myself collecting the same old special weapons and combat feats. Didn't feel like there was anything else worth taking.

Mod support was just added to the PS4. Checking out some of the mods now:
-More grenades! -Craft Nuke nades/mines. -More foliage and greenery -There's a project to make every boarded up door in Boston now an enterable and explorable space. Combined with other mods, it's up to 50 new interiors. -A "tactical immersion" mod that essentially lowers player HP and adjusts guns to deal damage much as you expect them to in real life (ie. missle launchers are always instakill). Also adjusts creature power to match their size and ability, makes tougher creatures rarer, and adjusts AI to match the tactics of the creatures' abilities (super mutants being much more aggressive to match their huge HP totals, for example). -A zombie mode that replaces all non-essential creature spawns with hordes of ghouls, all of which have been adjusted to act more like zombies. -A dismemberment mod that allows all living creatures to lose their limbs and act appropriately. If they lose their head, it's instakill, but you can get a version of this mod that disables that. -A complex mod that allows you to move legendary effects to other items. Lots of other things too, but I didn't really understand it. -A whole new item category: rings! They're in the game, but there are only two actual rings. This mod makes them a meaningful item.
Plus a lot of the usual cheat stuff. I'm not really interested in the shallower mods. I'm more interested in new content/rule changes. No perk rebalance though. There are mods that disable perk pre-reqs for crafting, but that's not really the same.

Well, yeah, on PC they're a pain, but they're much easier to use on console. Just download and then enable. You can even set which of your saves uses them and which don't.

Thoughts? Besides hoping it's not really online only?

There will be quests, but they will be given mainly by robots or the environments. And while there are tons of critics towards Bethesda's storytelling, they're kings of environmental storytelling.

They're pretty good at it, yes, but I'm seeing a lot of people shitting on the game because of the lack of mods and RP aspects.
My main issue is with the always online part, mainly the forced updates and how much hard drive space these games tend to eat up. I just don't have any.

Fallout Miami is an UNOFFICIAL Fallout 4 spin-off. That's right! It's not just a story expansion mod. It's a COMPLETE game! It might even be released for the PS4.
Now, technically, it's a mod, but the level of work and detail in the game is unparalleled in recent mod history. It's a completely brand new region utilizing a ton of brand new art assets and creatures, and the voice work so far feels as professional as any AAA title I've ever played. I thought the PC mods for Skyrim were impressive. This one is above and beyond anything I've seen before, and pretty much everyone agrees. It's set to be treated like a full game release and the devs are inviting people to test it. So far a lot of people say it feels like New Vegas in execution and it's way better polished than an unofficial project should be.
Granted, my experience with mods is non-existent, so maybe this is pretty standard for GOOD mods and I just know of the bad ones.

The later elder scrolls and Fallout 3 to 4 have all had a lot of mod support. Oblivion apparently had a couple of good full length campaigns nodded for it. Miami is the most impressive one I've seen though.

Never really cared for the settlements.
Anyway, the new campaign mod Fallout New California was released today which is a mod for New Vegas. First impressions so far say it's the best of the new school Fallout games and does a good job feeling like a bridge between the old games and the new games (that's what the story of the mod is focused on).
Franky, I think the first impressions are too positive and I'm sure this thing is going to need another year or so to iron out all the bugs. That said, apparently this mod introduces vehicles.
