[glow=red,2,300]REWARD FOR EARNING ENOUGH EVIL POINTS:[/glow] I've decided to stop screwing around and just tell you what your final reward for earning enough EVIL points is. I've spent many hours arguing with WoW players about the benefits of showing players what items they can earn with their hard earned Rep. points BEFORE they're high enough in rank to actually purchase those items, so I'm gonna practice what I preach and do the same here. I hope this will really make you try that much harder to be the most evil villain you can be. The reward for earning enough EVIL points: the immediate application of a very powerful evil-centric template. The only two that come to mind at the moment are the Death Knight and Lich templates, but if you'd prefer something else that is similar, that's fine too. No, don't ask me how many EVIL points it will take. I haven't decide what the scale will be, but I'm leaning towards "not that many EVIL points, but you have to be really nasty to get them". The "curse" will tell you if you're on the right track. If you don't want to take on a template, that's fine too. Ahh, you're killing me with this crap, TG. I assume Sin would be the lich, but I might be able to try out the death knight. Gahhhhhhhhhhhh! *shakes fist*

I found this replacement for familiar in one of the recent issues of Dragon Magazine (357, I think). Is it acceptable?
Aligned Spellcaster
Choose one of your alignment components that is not neutral. All spells you cast gain this descriptor, unless they already had the opposite descriptor. Also, you gain +1 caster level on spells cast against opponents with the opposite alignment (+2 if opponent has that alignment as a subtype).

I'm not comfortable with it, so no.
How about this from PH2:

Ok, need a little info. 1) What kind of Evil gods are there around, and what are they like? 2) What are their favoured weapons? 3) Also, are Traits and Flaws from Unearthed Arcana available?

Nice to have ya. 1. I never really fully developed the gods in Tanzkara, at least the evil ones, so just pick one you prefer and then I'll just replace the name with the most similar Tanzkaran deity. Keep all the other traits. 2. See above. 3. No. Not only is that more stuff for me to reference, but if you're going to receive a special statistical benefit for a personality trait, I'll have to enforce it everytime you stray from it. I don't think you'd like me hounding you over that. Please create character traits and flaws, but there are no need for bonuses or penalties.

I'm not comfortable with it, so no. How about this from PH2: Well, I'd rather have something with instant gratification. I'll look and see if I can find anything else.

There seems to be a slight bit of confusion regarding Evil points: evil points are like Exp. points. They aren't spent, merely gained, and you gain new rewards as the total increases.
That is all. Granted, the rewards are pretty damn cool.

AREA:
I've decided to base the game in Jumelwyn. The Avengalde region also would have been good because it allows ship travel, but I decided against it. Avengalde has a lot of good things going for it, but it's fairly closed in and lacking in creature variety.
Jumelwyn is too far inland to allow ship travel, but boy, the variety of factions and creatures and open land to hide out in is VAST. I just couldn't say no to it. Everything from the holiness of Jumelwyn city to the dog-eat-dog world of Shadow City Lazos, to the hordes waiting in the Underdark, to the dwarves of the Iron Halls, to the Dragons and the Knights of Ettelika, to the barbarians in the Barbarian Lands, to the tribal bands of Sunset Canyons...there's quite a list of factions here, and that's to say nothing of creature variety. There is also hidden modes of travel, like the Path of Eternity and the Sky Highway, and there is thousands of miles of open country to hide in, and lots of abandoned fortresses and ruins to use as a base or something.
Here are some side notes you guys may find useful while creating your characters:
-There are only 3 magic academies in Tanzkara, one of which is in Lazos (that's where Randolfi was trained). -Jumelwyn is known for producing Holy Knights. -Communication with the dragons of Latkie are not uncommon. -For easy integration of savage races, the Barbarian Lands is loaded with them. -Raids on villages from barbarians, Sunset tribes, and savage humanoids hiding out in the mountains are very common. Only Jumelwyn City offers any true protection from these elements.
So, how are those ref. sheets coming along? Anyone need any help?

I've just gotta buy my gear and pick my feats, then I'm done. Going with a Favoured Soul(Complete Arcane) of Scharossar, the Mistress of Exquisite Pain(BovD). I tell ya, I sure am happy that many torture devices in the BovD are both cheap and easy to carry. ^_^

How about you tell me about your character's escapades in a PM and I'll see decide what can go in and out. I need to know this if you've purchased a number of Evil points.
It's not too bad. Just create your character as normal-class, feats, skills, and such-while keeping in mind Centaurs have awesome STR, DEX, and CON scores, and I'll worry about the specifics.

Just to make sure my stats are right:
Str: 16 (12 used) Dex: 10 (2 used) Con: 14 (7 used) Int: 8 (0 used) Wis: 10 (2 used) Cha: 14 (7 used)
That should be 30 used for stats with 4 left over for Evil points.
Am I right so far?
And if I'm starting as a lv. 3 fallen paladin is fighter pretty much the best route until I hit Blackguard?

Paladin of Tyranny/Slaughter, man. Like the Paladin, but EVIL! Replace Smite Evil with Smite Good, make your horse meaner, and get a bad-ass aura instead of a holy one.

Which book is that in Sinnykins?
I know I've seen it before, but I can't remember.
And assuming I've got my stats right, I have my gear, a general outline of my background so far.
edit: nevermind found it

Yep. Evil paladins before Blackguard can be fun.
Note you can fulfull the Blackguard pre-requisite simply by earning enough Evil points regardless of what class features or skills you have. This is true for other evil devotion/belief-based prestige classes (assassin, for example, wouldn't count because it is a skill-based class).
Hierophant is another example of a devotion class that would qualify.
This would require around...oh, 6 Evil points, but note if you get a class too early, you may not be able to use all of its features. Also, the curse will expect to you fulfill some of the requirements (if assassin were allowed, for example, the curse would want you to murder somebody. For Hierophant you have to know some divine spells).
Yep. I don't see an error. Note those 2 Evil points will suggest you've partaken in 2 thoroughly despicable acts in your life, although you don't HAVE to share those two things if you don't want to, or if you can't just think of those 2 things.

Say, could I possibly do something like use ranks in Profession (Torturer) to replace the normal Intimidate checks when dragging information out of someone while torturing them?

Not exactly, but I can apply a Synergy bonus to Intimidate due to your ranks in Torture.
I think Torture would be more of a Knowledge thing.

So you're a hitman, eh? I've decided to explain why I'm allowing you guys to grow in power so quickly and easily, which should also help your character decisions: there are far more implications for evil characters than good characters. Sometimes good characters really have to look for quests, but evil characters create adventure simply by being evil. In other words, you're a lot more likely to piss somebody off when you're greedy and vengeful, and that goes for both evil and good NPC's. I figured you'll need the added strength to deal with all the crap you're going to be up against, but don't assume you can out-muscle everything just because you've got Evil points. So, keep in mind that it's entirely possible that the party will eventually be forced to avoid urban areas and secure gear and supplies using other means. Also keep in mind evil PC's have much fewer options for healing. You practically halve the available healing class options when you're evil, and none of those "other" healing classes have the kind of revival spells clerics have. On the plus side, if a character dies, it's really easy to bring in a new one. The curse just possesses another character.

I've got CLW chosen as a spell, and plan on taking healing upgrades as we level. Much funner to hurt somebody, heal them, and hurt them again to draw it out.

Wow. You guys are really putting some time into these ref. sheets. Really looking forward to getting your evil baddies right, eh?
*Not sarcasm btw.
Normally I have a few reference sheets by now, but instead I have a few cursory glimpes at partially completed ref. sheets.

I've been getting really hammered at work the last week. They had a major restructuring on Wednesday and so there has been little time for thinking about characters. Although I think mine is 99% complete.
