Turns out the Joker guy in Gotham is NOT the Joker, but actually "inspires" the future Joker. Which is actually kind of stupid. I was actually becoming okay with the idea of Jerome being the Joker. He wasn't too bad, and the way things were going, it looked like he was going to be used for a short spell, then he'd disappear. And that would actually work pretty well. Here's some crazy kid who is obviously the Joker...and then he disappears for a while to escape the cops and during that time becomes the Joker.
Instead, he laughed on TV...and apparently his laugh was infectious enough to inspire the "real" Joker.
Yeah, stupid.
I know it's important to respect canon, but not at the expense of the current property. It's better to break canon and create a respectable property that stands on its own, and then try to bring it back in line with the canon, then it is to drop everything at a hat for the sake of appeasing fans and ending up with something stupid.

Gotham's back then. We're not getting it until the New Year.

Ouch. I guess I better not say much more.
I will say Barbara has gone 100% looney toons. At first you could say she was just influenced by a psycho, but not now. Now she's a lot like Harley, minus any of the charm. She has kind of become the new Fish. I'm hoping Gordan will shoot her.

I was hoping for that for a lot of the first series. Especially when she single-handedly ruins Jim's arrest of Falcone. She's the biggest misstep of the show. A better actress might have made something of the material, but I'm convinced she was only hired because she was a pretty red-head. Is Morena Baccarin(Leslie) still in the show? I was kind of hoping they had upgraded her to full cast member.

Leslie is still on the show, but she's not nearly as good as she was. I guess the writers don't feel the need to give her significant screen time anymore.

Hot damn. I wonder if the baby will survive, how or if they're gonna name it Barbara. GORDON I want to name our baby girl after the woman that tried to kill you LESLIE Okaaaaaay.

Does she have a different name in any other version of the comics?

There have been other batgirls yes, but as far as I'm aware Barbara has always existed alongside them. Depending on the continuity, she's either Gordon's daughter or his niece. Of course I'm jumping gun here, the baby could be Gordon's son, James Jr.

Who is supposed to be older? Barbara or James Jr.?
Well, Barbara is usually in college when she becomes Batgirl (in the little I've seen anyway), and Bruce often looks older than he really is, so at least 10 years. Bruce is like 13 years old in Gotham, so the age disparity right now is perfect. I wouldn't be surprised if they follow Gotham with an actual Batman TV series.
By the way, did they ever resolve what's so special about the Arkham Asylum property? They keep hinting in the show that there is something very special about the land that everyone, including the Waynes, wanted very badly and it's key to all the battles that have been waged throughout the show.

I think Babs is older, but they could be doing things differently. I don't think James Jr has been used much outside of the comics, since he turns into a serial killer. His current incarnation was killed by Batgirl, as he was about to kill their mom. As for Arkham, I think whatever is special about it in Gotham, will be peculiar to the show. In the comics, it's simply a bad place to be. It's implied to have driven some of it's residents insane. Particularly the Arkham family. The last Arkham went insane and became the second Black Mask(Catwoman murdered the first one for murdering her brother-in-law, and torturing her little sister, who surprise, surprise went insane.)

The joker certainly tried to put something in the water. And apologies, it turns out my James Jr information is out of date slightly. He survived apparently and is now part of the Suicide Squad.

So episode 2 of Gotham and Sarah Essen is dead. I cannot help but think that they wasted the character, whom had a very rich history with Gordon(to the point of marriage). I thought the whole thing with Alfred and Bruce was stupid, at best poor writing. Alfred is his LEGAL guardian. Bruce can't send him away or fire him. At least not til he's older.

I'm assuming that Barbara will continue to be a vampire and suck the life out of any scene she's in. Does the actress get any better at playing her?

No. Like I said, she tries to pull a Harley Quinn, but sucks at it; however, you'll be glad to know that she is effectively removed from the show at around the half way point. I doubt she is gone forever, but it's implied that she can't come back very easily.

I have noticed it's camper this season. Not sure about Nygma's split personality thing that seems to be going. It's really Two-Face's turf, and it was done so much better on the Animated series. Frankly I'm hoping his meeting Penguin gives his character a shot in the arm, as the Kringle arc is begining to bore me. And in news that makes me sad, B.D.Wong has been cast as Hugo Strange.

I thought the exact same thing. It felt fine for Two-Face, but for Nygma it was all wrong. I don't know the lore, but the idea of a mathematical genius losing it and seeking to gain his proper place over society by proving how much dumber everyone else is compared to him with puzzle-based crimes is WAY more compelling. Yet another Psycho story? Blah. The only reason it was interesting in the animated series is because Dent was also Wayne's friend, so there was always that.
Thankfully, the split personality thing gets resolved fairly quickly. The result is still totally Psycho, but then Penguin shows up and Nygma has some hilarious scenes with him. It works out pretty well.
Better than Channing Tatum as Gambit, although after Googling him, I'm not too happy about Wong either. He's one of those "blame racism" whiny types. He actually believes the main reason his character in Jurassic Park was cut down is because of racism, NOT story reasons.
I would have liked Hugh Laurie as strange, but he might be getting too old, and I don't really know anything about the character anyway.

Yeah, Riddler and Penguin were BFFs in the comics. Wong is just wrong physically for the role. I suspect the reason he's been cast is to make the show look more ethnically diverse. On the other hand I don't care that they cast a female Firefly. The original was a boring Z-list villain. I can't believe there's actually speculation Barnara could be the show's Joker. That is just plain wrong. The Joker is a genius level supervillain, Barbara is possibly the most stupid character I've seen on TV.

Who the hell is saying Barbara is the Joker? That's so stupid. OMG, I hope someone doesn't suggest she has a sex change or something and THAT'S why Joker's past is so mysterious...or something equally ridiculously stupid.

Bruno Heller, the showrunner has said that they're open to having a female Joker, even Barb. I pray he's just trolling us.

There was a female Joker in between the Flashpoint continuity(basically a transistory period between the old and new continuities). In Flashpoint Bruce dies, the parents live. Thomas becomes Batman, and Martha beomes the Joker.

Is Harley really as dumb a blonde as depicted, or is it all just an act as part of her "character" as Harlequin, but she's become so in tune with the character that she has actual lapses into airheaded territory?

It depends on the writer, though I think in the animated episode "Mad Love", she came closer to killing Batman than most of the other Joker's attempts on the series. Penguin also suffers from this, to a much lesser degree, as some writers forget he's actually one of Batman's most intelligent foes.

Well, I don't know the lore, but in every source of Batman I've seen, Joker doesn't really want to kill Batman. Sounds strange, sure, but I think the idea that "Batman is just too much fun" is quite true. Then again, Joker lies a lot.
