(no, he said they're advancing) (how come my spirit buddy doesn't come back? ) Eadbald will attack the one rightmost on the map. He points at the wall behind the defender. "We can't be in the middle, clear out wall and hold there!"

"Why dont we head for the way out instead? There is nothing we can do about the soul harvester! The Elder is as good as gone! We have to get out of here while we still can! If we all rush our way through to the stairs we can fight there. If we need to escape the stairs will be our way out. The only other option is to gangrape the soul harvester all at once in hopes that he lose his grip on the Elder and thus loses his control of the defenders. Hell, if the harvester was an imperial then that Scimitar would be mighty helpful. Hopefully that will give the Elder enough time to get away and not be absorbed by the harvester."

(The guardian spirits are Ethereals and are present as a privilege, so they don't return if destroyed. Torryn, on the other hand, is tied to the Material plane and is granted as a class feature) * * * * *
"I'd agree with Xelander if I didn't think the soul harvester could crush Cealia with his pinky finger," Kay shouts back. "Look, I can take out these spirits with a good banishing, but you guys will have to make sure none of these guys get near me."
*And on that note, I still have Torryn and the cat in the Blackstone cathedral at the top of the stairs. Only the wolfhound is standing with Kay.

[glow=red,6,300]UPDATE[/glow] *************** COMBAT: ======= Eadbald runs over to a defender and takes a swing at it. The defender easily side-steps the attack and counters; it lands a bruising blow to the dwarf's already patched up shoulders (-2 HP). The defender next to its comrade joins in the fight and takes a swing at Eadbald, but the dwarf is able to block the attack with his shield. The soul harvester spares a cautious glance for Eadbald. It doesn't seem to care one bit that it's blade is lying on the ground behind him (noted as a yellow "D" on the map). Cealia and Xelander go back-to-back-to-back with Kay, defending all the while, as the shaman begins readying his banishing spell. The guardian spirits now charge in, the wolfhound going for a pair of defenders across from Kay, and Torryn and the ashen cat for the pair blocking the stairs. Torryn doesn't want to risk smashing into everybody, so he focuses on just delivering a solid bump for now. Alas, both defenders team up to block his advance with their shields. The cat joins Xelander during the commotion. *Much to my dismay, there are no horses or house cats in the NWN toolset. The ashen cat doesn't matter much, but I will have to use a deer to represent Torryn. Better than a cow, methinks. They will be adding horses shortly. The defenders take swings at Torryn (the deer) and manages to escape with a light bruise (-3 HP). Kay's wolfhound finds itself in the same situation, but there is nothing stopping the remaining two defenders going after Xelander, and one sneaks through to Kay as well. Xelander, defending his little heart out, still gets smacked for 6 HP damage. Kay steps away from the defender attacking him and finishes his chant. He suddenly lets loose with that heavenly burst of light that sees each and every defender, including all of the guardian spirits, floored by the violent outburst (-10 HP, -5 on a save...crappola). The soul harvester isn't affected. ** NEW RULE: You must now always provide me with at least 2 rounds worth of actions. "Can you try again, Kay?" Xelander yells as he tosses an Acid Splash at the nearest defender (or whichever is closes to Kay) followed by a dagger slash. More stabs with the dagger to follow.

Cealia will stabbity stab the defenders that are attacking Xelander. She'll stay as far from X as possible and trying to not hit him with the scimitar.
"I still have Obscuring Mist if you guys just want to make a break for the stairs," Cealia yells to the entire party.
She'll still stabbity stab. If the special killing scimitar doesn't do anymore damage then her regular scimitar she'll switch for safety concerns.

[glow=red,6,300]UPDATE[/glow] **************
COMBAT: =======
Eadbald takes a swing at the defender in front of him before backing away. He lands a decent blow to the defender's mid-section (-7 HP), but the attack doesn't seem to have an effect on the defender. The two defenders step into the stout dwarf with a pair of fierce swings of their maces, but neither connects, one just barely hitting the sweet spot of the dwarf's shield.
Cealia runs over to Xelander and takes a swing at the defender to the halfling's right. This gives the nobleman a moment to back away from the defenders ganging up on him and aid Kay with an Acid Splash (-2 HP). Cealia nails the defender's shield, but at least she dodges the counter attack rather easily. The second defender continues to press the attack on Xelander and manages to sneak a blow in (-5 HP).
Torryn tries to muscle his way past the defenders blocking him, but he gets blocked again, even pushed back a few steps (-3 HP). The wolfhound is still keeping another defender busy while the ashen cat tries to distract the defender attacking Xelander.
Kay unleashes another burst of heavenly light just as the defender on him gets another attack in (it's way off, -15 HP...the next shot better really hurt or we're gonna have to make a run for it).
The ashen cat disappears in a puff of mist. The soul harvester continues harvesting souls.
NEXT ROUND: ==========
Eadbald begins to defend. He blocks both attacks on him with his shield before countering. He lands a decent blow to the defender in front of him, and it appears the defender is close to its second death. Mist is rising out of its wounds.
"I don't think I can keep this up," Kay warns. Taking the hint, Cealia steps away from the defender attacking her and casts Obscuring Mist in preparation for the party's escape. A strange mist fills the entire room. Xelander continues to aid Kay with a slash on the defender next to him. The dagger suddenly comes to life, and there is a crackle of thunderous energy as the dagger hits home (-16 HP). Kay, seeing his back suddenly exposed to the two defenders behind him, is forced to risk assault by the one next to Xelander in favour of an open position in the middle of the room. He gets whacked for his trouble, but it's just a bruise (-2 HP).
The defenders see Kay's move and begin to focus on him. The one by the wolfhound pushes by the wolf and nearly gets its foot bitten off for its trouble (-10 HP), but the defender succeeds at reaching Kay long enough for a whack. Kay blocks the attack with his shield, but only through sheer luck: he puts his shield up as he's backpeddling and it just so happens to block the mace. The wolfhound charges the defender and attempts to tackle it, but gets knocked aside. Another defender busy with Torryn abandons the horse and goes after Kay. Its attack is also blocked, while the other stays on the horse and counters. The horse disappears for a second time. The defenders by Cealia push past her to try and get to Kay. One earns an Atk. of Opps, but Cealia misses so badly she spins on her feet and ends up dizzy, and once the defenders realize Cealia is in the way, the second comes up behind her while she's dizzy and pushes her to the floor. Due to the mist, the attack on the shaman is off.
It was quite a feat, but the bumps and bruises weren't enough to interrupt Kay's banishing spell. More blasts of pure light fill the room, and this time a couple spirits get destroyed. Unfortunately, that includes all of the party's guardian spirits (-15 HP).
The soul harvester appears to be finished harvesting. The green mist around its hand dissipates. The villain turns around and heads back to the crack in the wall.
"We have to get out of here!" Kay shouts.

"Lets go!!" Xelander yells as he tries to push his way towards the stairs, slashing with his dagger as he goes by the defenders. "Eadbald, come on!!" Eadbald backs away from the Defenders. If he can lose contact, he'll high-tail it to the stairs. If not, keep backing toward them, striking the closest defender he can reach. If he reaches the stairs, hold there until everyone is through, especially Kay.

(This new 2 round rule is divine! This fight is going by so quickly) [glow=red,6,300]UPDATE[/glow] *************** The soul harvester begins to depart while Eadbald begins to back away from the fight. He ends up bumping into Xelander, so he's forced to take a defensive swing. His attack is blocked. Nobody seems to be paying attention to Xelander, so he ducks past the defenders focusing on Kay and Cealia. He takes a swing at the defender on Cealia as he passes by, watches his dagger cut through the armor like butter, and is a little amazed when the defender disappears into a fine mist (-5 HP). Cealia, now free of combat, gets to her feet and makes for the stairs as well. She decides to distract the only defender at the stairs as Xelander runs by, but gets struck for her trouble (-4 HP). That leaves Kay and Eadbald in the fray. Kay does his best to avoid attacks by diving out of the dogpile (Tumble). Amazingly, his tactic works, and he ends up just at the feet of the defenders and outside their little circle. He scrambles to his own feet and begins to make for the stairs. The defenders give chase. Kay puts on quite a blocking clinic with his shield while Eadbald defends against the defenders on him. Free of the defenders, Kay joins Xelander in running by the remaining defender at the stairs and proceeds into the Blackstone Cathedral. Cealia also runs by, dodges the attack on her, and follows. Eadbald takes one last defensive swing, misses horribly, then spins on his heel and runs. He gets struck in the back, but his armor eats the whole attack, and he manages to get past the defenders who were ganging up on Kay. Now things get tricky. The defenders on Eadbald keep attacking him (and get blocked again) while the rest chase after the party. They clog up the tunnel to the stairwell and isolate Eadbald in the Elder's Hall. The party is still on the stairs looking down on the dwarf. "Uh, oh. Eadbald is stuck down there," Kay warns. **NEW RULE: You must now always provide me with at least 2 rounds worth of actions. [glow=red,6,300]UPDATE[/glow] ***************
The little ball of rage that is Xelander unleashes a torrent of piercing stones upon the defenders blocking the stairs, and those who aren't rendered swiss-cheese have to then deal with Kay and Cealia. Only two defenders remain, and they're now distracted, so Eadbald sprints for the stairs. Only one Atk. of Opps. reaches him as he runs (-4 HP), but it's not enough to slow him down. He crashes through the remaining defenders with ease, and soon the entire party is racing through the halls of the Vault towards the exit.
"Run! Run! Forget everything else, just run!" Kay shouts over and over again as they sprint through the dark, eerie halls, the black torch still in Xelander's hand. Despite his cries, when the party discovers the Sword of the Mountain Kings still leaning against the wall in the Barracks, Kay grabs it and hands it to Eadbald (actually great for Xelander since Crabs seems down for the count).
"They don't need it. We do," Kay explains with a smile.
*Hey, does Crabs still post at the Disco?
The party finally reaches the long, dark tunnel that first led them to this dreaded place, and they begin the long ascent back to the entry cavern. When they finally get there, they find Kara still waiting patiently for them, and the black torch in Xelander's hand winks out. It's now just a normal Everburning torch.
Kay places the torch next to the others and plops down on a rock near the ritual firepit. He glances outside and, discovering it is now quite dark, begins to prepare a normal fire.
"We would be crazy to travel through the pass at night, even if we did pass the mountain's challenge," Kay says as he begins rubbing two sticks together. "We should be okay for tonight."
Kara suddenly points out there is a shadow of some sort lurking around the entrance of the cavern, and it isn't horse-shaped. Cealia and Eadbald spot it too.
Kay slams the sticks on the ground in frustration. "Great, just when we get out of that creepy place...who wants to go check it out?"

[glow=blue,6,300]UPDATE[/glow] *************** Eadbald prepares his oft-used axe of late and approaches the entrance to the cave. He looks around for a bit, but doesn't see anything suspicious, so he begins to step outside... ...and is surprised when a huge sword is swung at him. He jumps back, just narrowly avoiding the blade, and quickly rejoins the rest of the party. Three large figures now enter the cave, all of them dressed in heavy furs and towering over the party. As they approach the light of the everburning torches, their bullish horns and black hooves come into focus. "The yakfolk hunters," Kay whispers. He raises his hands in a defensive gesture. "Please! We are weary. We have no quarrel with you." The yakfolk stop for a moment. The apparent leader of the group turns back to the other hunters and begins grunting and...well, mooing, as some form of communication. The hunters then begin nodding their heads and grunting louder, as if they are laughing at something. The leader turns back to face Kay and begins to speak in common with a deep, grating voice. "Weary...are you? That...is how we like it," the yakfolk hunter laughs again. "We...follow your tracks a long time. Find they lead to cursed cave. You enter, but we know you will come out soon. Wait, and be rewarded. Here you are..." "Kara'Conakor will not be pleased if they discover yakfolk hunters have attacked travelers," Kay replies with a frown. "We...on important mission too...for weapons," the leader hefts his greatsword for emphasis. "No more talk. Bleed now." Kay growls. "We didn't brave the Spirit Vault and escape certain doom from a cursed being just to be defeated by a bunch of cows," Kay turns to the party. "Show them no mercy, for they will give none." The yakfolk charge, one with a greatsword, the other with axes in either hand. The third hangs back with a club. It wears a head dress of feathers and beads. Actions?
