It would appear so. She thinks the character, instead of dying, should have just been left in the background in the later movies. But Han was playing the role of "the old mentor" in a way, so it was pretty darned obvious what was going to happen, plus that is what Harrison Ford always wanted. Come on, the guy is in his 70's. He can't avoid blaster shots forever.
I just hope they do more of their own thing in the later movies. There was way too much fan service in the first movie.

I don't mind that Han died. I felt it was a good ending for him. There probably was a lot of fanservice as the prequel series lost a lot of the good will Star Wars had.

Maybe so, but I just don't have much respect for stuff like that. Makes the whole experience feel cheap. Instead of making great, new memories, we're just reliving old memories with shinier paint. I'd rather just watch the old movies. At least the prequel trilogy was (mostly) new stuff, and the third movie helped recapture a lot of goodwill.

My sister got me an R2D2 measuring cup set for Christmas. It's basically R2D2, but every part of him can be used for measurements. The dome of his head, for instance, is 1/3 of a cup. His main body is a whole cup. His legs are tablespoons.

Not Star Wars news, but I don't want to start a new thread for LucasArts news. Anyway, they've announced Spielberg and Ford for the next Indiana Jones movie in 2020.
I love Indi but good lord, they better have a younger actor in the lead by then.

The last one was fairly awful. Another bad one could kill it off. I think they meant for the son to take over. Really wish they had left it at The Last Crusade. A natural end to the series.

They should have went Young Indiana Jones or Son of. I suppose that was the point of Shia LeBeouf, and apparently people actually liked him in the movie much to my surprise, but his name is mud now in the movie industry.

Right. The original movie had Han shoot Greedo first before he had a chance to draw. All Greedo had done at this point was to threaten Han. Han essentially murdered him in cold blood, though Greed o was planning on taking him to Jabba. For many fans this was a defining moment for Han. George tinkered with this in the remastered edition, having Greedo shoot first(and miss), making it a justification of self defence.

But Han did shoot Greedo first. What exactly is the problem? That nobody can agree he shot first, or that Lucas changed it?

Yeah, looked it up. Turns out it's the changes that tick everyone off. More specifically, that Lucas actually came out and said "I can change it if I want to because it's my movie!" despite once claiming changes like that are irresponible.

Star Wars game coming out in November. It's by the people whom made Titanfall 2. You play a Jedi who escaped the order 66 purge.

Yeah, I watched a 15 minute gameplay video. Honestly, I think it looks pretty ho-hum. They've said outright that they were inspired by mechanics used in Dark Souls and Sekiro. While I can see the use of the posture mechanics in lightsabre duels, the Souls-esque style of slow, deliberate paced combat looked pretty bizarre in a Star Wars setting.

I thought that was just a rumour. The main theory I'm hearing is that Rey is actually a daughter of Palpatine and he's going to appear as a force ghost or something. Which is okay. That would actually be a reasonably interesting development. They can't ALL be heroes, you know?
But if he's literally coming back...that's just stupid.

There has been evil force ghosts in the old expanded universe and other media in the past. If Rey is his daughter, he has form, as it's been strongly implied he created Anakin. The theory I've been hearing is that he's been manipulating both sides to weaken them to take over.

A recent expose on the going ons at Disney after The Game of Thrones guys signed their Netflix deal suggest Star Wars is something of a mess at the moment. Apparently nobody there really knows what they want to do with Star Wars, or what it's supposed to be about. And some major names are now refusing to do Star Wars simply because the fanbase is so toxic.

The fan base is not toxic. Divided yes, but not toxic. Disney are trying to blame the fans for the failure of the last Jedi. Frankly their treatment of the fans is quite disgraceful. I fully expect the next movie to suck.

So the newest Star Wars game is apparently very good. It's also a Souls-like, although I don't think it really is by the sound of things, but that doesn't matter because the game has difficulty settings.
Most importantly of all...there is an orange lightsaber. Those looked awesome in KOTOR2.
