Ah.
How about you just tell me which class you want to play. I'll fill in the rest.
Please hurry. Only like 2 weeks left before the deadline, and that's probably how long this test will take.

Added my ref. sheet to the first page of this thread. Now you don't have to search for it anymore because it will always be here.
Note this is an updated version, so be sure to save it, bookmark it, or whatever you do.

I would like to see some non-fantasy games, so here's my ideas:
SUPERHERO GAME: The idea I mentioned earlier with the superhero team looking for trouble in a city plagued with villains.
ZOMBIE ATTACK!: Inspired by a string of zombie movies on Scream these days. This would be a D20 Modern game. Long story short, for some reason or another, a whole lot of zombies appear and attack, you guys need to survive, etc, etc. To make things more interesting, I'll be adding lots of different types of encounters to make sure you guys aren't always fighting the same type of zombie. Ditto for weapons.
GOD COMMANDS US TO INVADE: A divine entity calling itself "god" orders humanity to build a massive space fleet and invade the galaxy. This is a sci-fi game that mixes on-foot action with mecha combat, maybe some mid-space dogfights as well.
ABSOLUTISM VS. DEMOCRACY: Players split into two teams and follow two different plots in a D20 Future campaign. They frequently battle eachother using standard ground weapons and mechs. Story follows a war between two groups, within the same nation, who believe in freedom and those who don't.

I'd love to give the Superhero game a spin. I <3 Superpowers.

I'd love to give the zombie thing a spin myself. Maybe we should give Max a call.

I might be up for the God game, if I got a fighter jet out of it. I used to play as an ace pilot character and I'm feeling nostalgic.

I'm going to be using a different Skill system in future games I do. I've gotten a little tired of how Skills work on the board, so I'll be trying something else.
In the next game we play, Skills won't have ranks or points or bonuses or anything like that. In future games, if you have a Skill, you can do it. That's it.
Skills will be ranked much more simply: Bad (untrained), Decent, Good, Great, or Legendary. In other words, when you attempt to use a skill, you will either get Bad results, Decent results, Good results, or Great results. No rolls, no critical failures, none of that stuff. If there are Vs. rolls involved, the better skilled wins. If the skills are equal, the better talented wins (higher mod). If everything is equal, THEN I'll roll a die.
Of course, learning skills will be different because you won't have points. Instead of spending points, you'll have a limit equal to the amount of skills you could normally learn at Lv.1 if you maxed out every rank in those skills. For example, you can only have, at best, 4 ranks in every skill at Lv.1, so, if you have 40 skill points, you can learn a max. of 10 skills total (40 / 4 = 10). These can't be switched later.
To learn more skills, you select a feat, basically Learn New Skill or something.
Rating in a skill is determined by the following criteria:
-BAD: Any untrained skill. -DECENT: Any skill you have learned, or an untrained skill modified by a very high ability score. -GOOD: Any trained skill modified by a good ability score (not necessarily very high). -GREAT: Any trained skill modified by a good ability score and a skill boosting Feat. -LEGENDARY: Any trained skill modified by a very good ability score, a skill boosting Feat, the Skill Focus feat, and Epic levels.

What about Multiclassing? Say you take your first level in fighter, but move to a high-skill class later, like Rogue or Scout?

I would either half the number of skills you'd normally gain at first level or allow you to gain the same amount (haven't decided yet). Either way, most of those high skill classes would be affected by armor, so it shouldn't be unbalancing.

I'm working on a way to reduce the amount of referencing DM's have to do during a game. Referencing rules is what causes DM's to spend a lot of time updating games, both board and live.
One idea I have is creating a "mini-bar" stats section for every character, sort of like a smaller stats-block. Unlike a stats. block, it only contains the most pertinent information while exploring your typical environment or during a fight. Only things the character would do often are added to the block. This mini-block would be placed in every player's post (the player would do this) or possibly in their signatures. I haven't decided on that part yet, but that's the point of suggesting this here. Any ideas?
Here's an example of a mini-block for Jandar (with a few made up stats. to complete the block):
* * * * * I-->>JANDAR HP--29, STR.18 DEX.22 CON.17 INT.12 WIS.13 CHA.12 Saves--Fort +8, Ref +11, Will +6; ATK Melee attack +9, Range +11 AC: 21, Touch 20; INIT +6, Move 60 ft. Spell Resist/Failure: 0, 0% Skills: Climb +14,Jump +16 ,Listen +11,Sense Motive +11,Tumble +18 ATTACKS: Unarmed +12 (2d6+4), Javelin +11 (30ft,1d6+4), L.Spear +5 (d8+6) SPECIAL: Spells, Flurry of Blows, Dodge Feat, Evasion, Slow Fall PASSIVE: Ki Strike (magic), Defensive Throw * * * * *
Speaking of easy referencing, has anyone got their hands on the Rules Compendium? It sounds handy, but I haven't been able to spare the time to visit a hobby shop (way too few around here).

I have it in my possesion. It's in the latest stack of things WotC sent me to review, I'm currently reading through the Grand History of the Realms. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from the Dungeon Survival Guide

The status mini-bar thing looks cool, but could be a problem if you put this in your sig and you're playing multiple characters (unless you link to it off site). Who would be responsible for updating these blocks?

The DM's I guess.
Links in sigs. could work too.

A newer version: * * * * * I-->>JANDAR HP--29, STR.18 DEX.22 CON.17 INT.12 WIS.13 CHA.12 Saves--Fort +8, Ref +11, Will +6; ATK Melee attack +9, Range +11 AC: 21, Touch 20; INIT +6, Move 60 ft. Spell Resist/Failure: 0, 0% Skills: Climb +14,Jump +16 ,Listen +11,Sense Motive +11,Tumble +18 ATTACKS: Unarmed +12 (2d6+4), Javelin +11 (30ft,1d6+4), L.Spear +5 (d8+6) SPECIAL: Spells, Flurry of Blows, Dodge Feat, Evasion, Slow Fall PASSIVE: Ki Strike (magic), Defensive Throw * * * * * Can't get it any smaller than that using board code. Here's a smaller, yet readalbe, version on Notepad, but you'd still have to open a separate window for it:

TG: I read through the Rules Compendium yesterday. It's a decent book, covering all the rules and rule changes since 3.5 came out without all the fluff that is in the DMG and PH. It is purely mechanics, and works well as a replacement for the DMG and PH at the gaming table if you're familiar with the non-mechanics presented in those two books.
It includes rule updates that were added after the 3.5 core books came out, so it has some rule changes that are "non-core".

i'd have to leave your games then, i can't afford to pay someone so i can play a game of d&d.. it's a nice, fun, and relaxing thing for me to do, but not when i have to shell out $50 just to play. i'd rather find some other board that does d&d for free.
i understand where you're coming from and i wish you the best of luck. but i'm poor and that's a luxury i can't indulge in.

Well, it comes off merchant-ish, but I'm really just saying you'd have to pay me to keep running these games. Then I came up with an actual number.

Because it looks like this is going to be a LONG winter, here's a FREE game idea:
Guild-based classic D&D game:
Yep, just a simple classic D&D game. No mean amount of effort. No zany, over-arching plot. Just a group of adventurers being hired by an elite guild to deal with problems too complex for the average soldier or guard. This is basically a mix of adventures that never quite made our games over the years thrown into a single package. Sort of like a hat full of adventures you draw, then decide if the money is worth the risk. Despite the hodge-podge feeling, there is a general theme: I would specifically avoid adventures and monsters that have been over-used. For example, one of the very first jobs you get involves cleansing a haunted house. Another one involves defeating a giant and his ogre minions.
Why is this one free? Simple reason really: no preparation required. No far-flung plot-points, characters, or villains to keep track of. Just the dungeon you're currently exploring. It's not going to blow anyone's mind, but this is the best I can do right now.
Oh, and if this one got going, I wouldn't keep it here. It would move with Savage Tide and Greyhawk.

I was shooting for 2 or 3, but you could start higher if you want to.
Everyone will be guaranteed at least one score of 18 though.

Core rules and the Complete Books, but nothing else outside of those. Not just because there is already a lot of stuff to reference there, but I've found a lot of content outside of the Core and Complete rules to be a little unbalanced or poorly tested.
LA +1 for monster races, but only from the core Monster Manuals. LA +2 is also available, but the character would need to be approved first.
I also plan to use my little "Good, Bad" skill system, but if you don't want me to, that's fine.
Oh, I forgot to add this bit: there will also be "good" and "evil" sponsors for every job. Basically, there is a side-quest for every job that requires you to do something good or evil, and rewards for each one.

Finally got my hands on the Rules Compendium.
It's kind of annoying how the RC is not only a list for the D&D rules, but a complete UPDATE of existing rules. I mean, Druids got a brand new class feature for crying out loud!
Thankfully, the changes are for the better, and there's lots of great notes and ideas from the designers. The Revivify spell is particularly awesome. It's basically a low-level raise dead spell, which means it can be bought in scroll form btw, that can be used within a round of a player dying. It allows DM's to add more bite to their fights without always worrying about their players needing to reroll at lower levels.

well..see. i would love to play a centaur again. but i dont want to go through all the setting up the character and stuff because it's really complicated and i honestly don't have the time right now. so either that or just play some simple elf cleric.
