As I was looking into adapting HeroQuest for online play, I stumbled across this cool little program: www.kitana.org/playground/heroquest/heroquest.htmlWith this, you can easily build your own maps, monsters, items, player characters, you name it. It has a lot of potential. The only problem: it's in German. I've already translated over all the necessities, and I have the first 14 missions from the original board game ready to go. If anyone wants to give it a test run to see what it's capable of, I'm in need of four heroes.

Okay, what else should I add here? Anything from the BHR forums (the forum we just left)? Any news? Info? Rules?
I'm going to add some of the better questions from the RP Noob thread when I get a chance, and maybe those from the Superhero thread as well.

I have this really cool idea I like to call "Ultimate Rape". The idea is that all the players are in an arena and gain points by subduing and raping each other in the nastiest ways as possible.

Er...
How about another superhero game? I think Aegis Hounds is pretty much dead. This superhero game would be more like a freeform D&D game. It takes place in a fictional city, so I won't be hindered by realism, and it will sorta be like City of Heroes: there are lots of superheroes and supervillains running around, and there's always punks, villains, mutants, aliens, and giant robots to fight. ;D
The team can choose which mission to take at will, and they don't have to follow the main storyline which mostly revolves around moral conflicts about whether or not superheroes should be mercenaries.

i tend to like the fantasy games in a time before robots and superheroes. like the final fantasy xi setting or ff3. i'm just not big on giant robots wreaking havoc on cities.

That's what I thought, but there's quite a comic book following here and my Superhero rules are actually somewhat popular.
Oh, for the superhero game, if you want to use your Aegis Hounds characters in this new game, that's fine too.

I wouldn't mind giving it another shot. I assume you've kept on working on the SH rules, right? Probably a lot of new stuff for me to play with? ^_^

If you missed the whole bit on Superhero Items and Epic Superheroes, yes. As for the core rules, mostly just adjustments and modifications. Well worth reloading a fresh copy either way.
That reminds me. It's probably time to re-examine powers. I think some of them are a little complicated, and buff specific powers seem a little weak (aka. Pegasus went down way too easily).
Aegis Hounds is most definitely done, so the new superhero game suggestion is now a full-blown one. Too bad. The next AH missions would have been pretty wild.

I'll be keeping my games on the old boards at least until Seeds finishes this chapter (we're beginning the last dive into the sewers, so it should (hopefully) go quick.)
Savage Tide is likewise near the end of the chapter, although it has a little farther to go. I'm still debating whether to wait until the chapter is over or move it as soon as we deal with the Sargasso.

Well, I got a few ideas we can try:
SUPERHERO GAME: The idea I mentioned earlier with the superhero team looking for trouble in a city plagued with villains.
ZOMBIE ATTACK!: Inspired by a string of zombie movies on Scream these days. This would be a D20 Modern game. Long story short, for some reason or another, a whole lot of zombies appear and attack, you guys need to survive, etc, etc. To make things more interesting, I'll be adding lots of different types of encounters to make sure you guys aren't always fighting the same type of zombie. Ditto for weapons.
GOD COMMANDS US TO INVADE: A divine entity calling itself "god" orders humanity to build a massive space fleet and invade the galaxy. This is a sci-fi game that mixes on-foot action with mecha combat, maybe some mid-space dogfights as well.
CLASSIC D&D: If in demand, I can do this too, but I figure with Keno's games we've got the fantasy stuff covered.

I'm leaning towards Heros and Zombies. Or both at once!

No problem...if I get enough people, that is.
Modern games are so much easier to run for some reason. ;D

Another idea:
CURSE OF DARKNESS: Classic fantasy D&D game, but with a huge twist. In this game, we throw away the goodie-shoes and tired heroes. This time, we go EVIL. That's right, you're the villains!
There's two variations of this game: one that is more structured and straightforward, and one that is free-form--
a) You're all nasty characters under the command of an evil warlord. This warlord wants to begin his/her conquest, but how he does so is up to the party. Long story short, if you want to raid command outposts for weapons and supplies, do so. If you want to explore deep dungeons for weapons to better strengthen your soldiers, do so. If you want to steal candy from babies, by all means, do so! You will also be granted rewards based on how evil you can be.
b) The second variation places in the roles of classic D&D characters...until you become cursed with evil pieces of equipment! The curse can not be broken until you apiece the curse's lust for evil, so the characters are forced to commit as many evil acts as possible to break the curse. Because there is a defined goal, it's a lot easier to direct your efforts, but you're still good guys pretending to be bad.

Ok, also got a roommate who'd like to join. He's a rather experienced player (Since 2nd), and also a pretty damn awesome DM. Few questions, though: 1) Start Level? 2) Available Books? Far as I'm concerned, you can't have a good evil campaign without the BovD, Heroes of Horror, and the Fiendish Codexes. ^_^

Another idea! This one is NOT a campaign. It is a...COLOSSEUM TOURNAMENT! Well, no, not really a tournament. More of a simple gladiator style, free for all frenzy. With carryover rewards, and possibly rewards you may feel in my games. You see, even after all these years of D&Ding, and I've never spent much time with groups over Lv.10. Lv.13 is the higher level character I've ever seen. Not a big deal in terms of spells and monsters you get to fight, but I have missed out on a lot of cool magical gear during that time. I have never seen anyone actually use a vorpal weapon, or an elemental burst weapon, and definitely not any epic weapons. Same with armour and shields. You see where I'm going with this? YES! That's right! A tournament solely focused on allowing you guys to use those awesome magical weapons and armour we never get a chance to play with. Maybe even rare spells too. Now, you don't start with those weapons or spells when the fight begins. It will be multi-player PVP style where the pieces randomly fall on the map. You have to go and retrieve them. I'm shooting for Lv.6 characters for this. You may use any character you've played if you wish, and jack them up to Lv.6 for this tournament, so long as you provide the ref. sheet. This game is very combat based though, so it may best to use martial characters. Anyone else think this sounds like a fun idea?

I've completed the monster design I plan to send in for Keno's create a monster contest. Now I need a group of adventurers to test the monster's challenge rating. 4 is the ideal number, and they only have to be Lv.1.
I must have the typical party for this test: 1 tank character, 1 skillful character, 1 character capable of healing, and 1 burst magic damage character.
Don't go too crazy building characters. Using default starting packages will be more than enough. Don't worry about death and such, but play your characters as best possible as if there were very real consequences for your actions.
I'd very much appreciate it if you guys help me...enough to give you free Exp. in one of my games.

I'll take the beatstick! Barbarian with a huge-ass sword! Stats? Quick-and-Easy 25 point buy or Elite Array I'm assuming?

|
Post by TG Barighm on Sept 19, 2007 18:48:55 GMT -5
Quick and Easy. 25 point buy. If you know what the Elite Array is, you can use that instead.
Elite Array is a series of scores that typically reflect the kind of characters D&D expects you to play: 15,14,13,12,10,10 (or something like that).

15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8. Think I'll go with the point-buy, and Min-Max this sucker as much as you can for a 1-st level Barbarian. >_>
