PARASITE: Anime about a body snatcher-like alien that fails and instead occupies a guy's arm. The two must learn to live together despite their mutual distrust since other aliens consider this one a threat. It's actually a well written anime with some very good characters. Sadly, the show eventually transforms into more of a superhero yarn, but it starts out really well.
GUN GALE ONLINE: Spin-off of Sword Art Online. Not nearly as good, but not even Sword Art was able to remain very interesting after the first season.

GOOD OMENS: A show featuring both Dr. Whos of the past, one is an angel and the other is a demon and both are trying to prevent the apocalypse. A lot of filler flashbacks, and not particularly funny (it's a comedy), but not bad. I've seen the two in better roles though.

Michael Sheen hasn't been a Doctor. Unless it was for an audiodrama or comic relief, which don't count. The show itself is based on one of my all time favourite books, and whilst they changed a bit of it to make it more woke, I think it's probably going to be the best adaptation we get. It was never going to be as good as the book, partly due to the heavy weight of expectation I had for it.

I don't remember the show being very woke. There was one obnoxious character, but it's obvious you're not supposed to like her. And many of the female characters come off as incompetent. The only one that doesn't is the witch who loads her skirt with gunpowder and shrapnel when she is burned at the stake. Now that was just funny.
Anyway, I've watched quite a bit of new stuff:
GHOST IN THE SHELL (NETFLIX): I don't really remember the original anime much, but the Netflix show pretty much focuses on the investigation for these humans who have become "cyber brained" or something. Initially, the show presents a lot of cool tech, but eventually breaks down into investigative stuff. It's pretty lame overall, but I liked the tech stuff. There is one good episode where a bunch of seniors try to rob a bank, though.
KIPO: Another woke-Flix show, although so far the woke-ness has been restricted to the one male character stating he's gay when Kipo thinks they're out on a date. Aside from that...eh, it's an okay show. Nice little adventure romp in an amusing setting where all of the animals have become intelligent and gigantic and the humans are struggling to survive. Kipo herself goes anime towards the end as she gains some superhero traits.
I've actually just picked up Amazon Prime TV. I dunno if you get that. Anyway, I'm finding the selection of shows more tantalizing than Netflix. Netflix WAS great but...well, I call it "woke flix" for a reason, now. Good lord, the way She-Ra ended...even my mom threw her apple core at the TV.

Just wait until you see Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe. It's sidelining He-man in favour of an apparently lesbian Teela. Is it so fucking hard to respect fans and the original material?

Smith said that's just a load of internet BS. He-Man is the hero and Teela won't be gay. Smith actually accused the guy who first reported the rumour of sensationalism. Smith describes the show as being rather dark and very metal. For awhile they were calling the show "End of the Universe".
UPLOAD: A guy dies and then sees his pushy girlfriend upload his mind into a digital world where he can continue to live and maintain contact with the outside world...so long as he continues to make his payments. It's a comedy loaded with slights against commercialism especially digital commercialism like DLC, app purchases, microtransactions, and data limits. It's also full of references to everything internet, like gaming, YouTube culture, and memes and all of its jokes reference real companies. Oscar Mayer Intel, anyone? Nokia Taco Bell? It's pretty funny and has quite a bit of charm. Easily one of the better shows I've watched over the last few months.
SPACE FORCE: Steve Carrel brings that "The Office" brand of humour to a new show about a quirky military outfit dedicated to bringing American bravado to space, science be damned. I never got the appeal of "The Office", but it's easier to get into Space Force due to how much more likable and charming the characters are. It's more amusing than "ha ha" funny, but the show has some genuinely surprising twists throughout.

There's actually more evidence that Smith might have been lying but we'll see when the show comes out. Hopefully I'm wrong, as I've enjoyed a lot of his work before.

THE TICK: Never been too fond of the Tick in the past. Wasn't too fond of it now, but the new Amazon show, although not nearly as funny as the original, has gotten interesting after the first few episodes. It is clearly trying to turn the whole thing into a commentary on mental health, which was the thing to do a few years ago when it first came out, but it is kind of fun seeing parodies of Deathstroke and Livewire.

Harley Quinn has been on over here, and the shocker is, it's not completely awful. It's not as overtly SJW as I was expecting, though there are times that it really is. I don't like some of the liberties it takes with characters. Wonder how it's going to do now, since they don't have the lead in from Rick and Morty.

Yeah, it really wasn't as woke as we were lead to believe. Apparently the movie's producers ordered the cast to push it as such back when they actually thought that sort of thing sells.

JEAN CLAUDE VAN JOHNSON: What if Jean Claude Van Damme wasn't really an actor but a secret agent and his movie career was just a cover for all of his covert activities? Sound dumb? Well, it is, but that's why it's a parody of 80's action/spy movies. For the most part, Van Damme's career is the butt of most jokes. Not exactly Shakespeare, but it's kind of fun seeing everyone doing this super serious spy/action movie kind of stuff and then there's Claude acting like a goof. This is probably the first time I've seen Van Damme clearly having fun in a role where he takes on a Bruce Campbell like persona.

Yeah his career is of variable quality, and became more inconsistent as his career continued. It's nice that he's doing something fun.

THE BOYS: It's the Justice League, except they're now horribly flawed human beings and blah blah blah. It's about as groan worthy as it sounds, but it does have some amazing special effects and it can get shockingly gruesome. Ever see a person explode into a million bits in slow motion?
PRIMEVAL NEW WORLD: So apparently this was a series that ran for a bit in the UK. This version is set in Canada and deals with another team of scientists battling dinosaurs and baffling temporal anomalies. Not exactly the greatest, but it does get fairly interesting towards the end, and the dinosaur animations are surprisingly good for a TV show from 8 years ago. Shame it was canceled after just one season.

It's always fun when you see a known actor in some forgettable role in an older movie or show.

STARGATE SG-1: Wow. Never realized this show ran for so long. Starting out it's not half bad, but I imagine it gets pretty silly later. A very decent filler show.

It gets better after the first season. Whilst it does have it's silly moments and episodes,it's handled seriously. SG Atlantis is pretty good as well but that kind of got left on a clifthanger that wasn't addressed in the spin off movies of SG-1. Fun fact, the movie Independence Day was originally intended to be a sequel to the Stargate movie.

Yes, I'm surprised how good the writing is for what is essentially campy sci-fi. Of all the shows my mother has seen, she says Stargate-SG1 has the most accurate take on medicine.

SUPERSTORE: So the Scrubs guys have their own take on Office-style comedy, but in this case it's about a Walmart-like group of employees working in retail. The show is newer, so it loves to delve into modern social politics, but it is actually somewhat funny and the characters are easier to digest.

Season 5 of Lucifer is back. The show's kind of lost it, with every character's function seemingly changing from season to season to the point none of the characters have the same charm any more, but it's still genuinely entertaining and it is the last season, so gonna stick this one out to the end. I've seen shows "lose it" way more than this one did.

COBRA KAI: It just appeared on Netflix. It's all right. Kind of soap opera-ish and the acting and choreography is pretty poor, but it's not very surprising given they're using a bunch of actors who never really had any business acting in the first place. This version DOES do a much better job of developing the characters, and the rivalry between the two schools is more interesting because it's not so cut and dry. It certainly improves more in the second seasons as more students, who are better actors, get added to the show.

DRAGON'S DOGMA: Poor animation, try hard drama, and checklist-style storytelling. Not impressed.
JURASSIC WORLD-CAMP CRETACEOUS: Obvious fan service, stupid moments, and a whole lot of teasing. Also, one of the camp counselors is Lara Croft for some reason, although I like that shot at Wu's actor by depicting him as an arrogant snob. The main cast consists entirely of kids, so we know nobody is going to die. Completely kills any suspense the show might have.

AMERICAN GODS: A stylish show that presents this idea of new gods created by modern culture trying to eliminate the ancient gods like Odin and the like. The "new" gods are things like the Internet, pop culture, technology, etc. An old god goes about rebuilding his army to battle the new gods. I could never really get into the show. Stylish and amusing dialogue, sure, but most of the time the characters just sit around talking, and the show can get super gruesome for seemingly no reason. It's fine if it's cool, but the gore effects are deliberately cheesy. And, yes, there is a large does of woke-ness. Maybe it gets more interesting, but I took a break from the show and I just can't make myself care enough to start it up again.
THE FEED: Internet is installed directly into peoples' heads and evil corporations are using it to spy and hypnotize people into doing evil stuff...even if they don't have the software installed. Oh my! It does have a nice dose of suspense and drama, but this is another show that just didn't grab me. I got around halfway into the show, predicting every development...and then I found myself more interested in watching Family Guy reruns.
