So it appears Sony might be prepping to buy Konami's gaming franchises, notably Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill. This was originally suggested in a rumour that nobody cared about, but later Konami officially stated they had entered into an "exclusive development" contract with Sony. And recently there have been a lot of rumours, many of which are considered common knowledge in Japan, that Sony is rebooting Silent Hill (and Hills), Castlevania (as a Souls-like), and remaking MGS.
Now it's much more likely that the rumour started because someone mistook this exclusive development deal as an IP purchase, but these kinds of deals have led to outright IP purchases in the past.

Outer Worlds getting new DLC, an 8 hour mystery themed adventure on a new planet. More interestingly, it's not just a new area you tackle when you feel like it. The new DLC will be interwoven into the main plot meaning you will need visit the planet at some point, and what you do there will have an impact on other planets which may require you to revisit them.

Suikoden is finally getting a sequel from the writer and director of the first two games.
Sadly, it's actually a spiritual successor rather than a sequel, but hey, that's not half bad. The Kickstarter for the project begins on Monday.

Huh. Sony delisted Cyberpunk from PSN.

It's because it's so horrendously buggy that it is unplayable. They're even giving refunds for it, something Sony almost never does.

Actually, Sony was being a little hesitant about the refunds which is probably why they went with delisting. Apparently the PS5 BC version is the best functioning of the console versions, so it's funny that they delisted it entirely.

I am just glad I didn't break my rule about not pre-ordering. It just plain annoys me when companies send out games that are not ready for a cash grab. I might pick up watchdogs instead.

According to another article, this was purely their publisher's decision (well, it usually is) and apparently the staff at CDPR called a meeting with their publisher to air their grievances.

I don't know if you've ever played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, but the game is now available on Xbox/PSN/Switch. It's not a remaster.

Turns out the XSX does have DRM after all. You literally can't start the XSX without connecting to the internet at least once.

So far the only news from E3 that is remotely interesting is the sheer quantity of Elder Scrolls games coming out of Xbox right now. Starfield, Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, and we know ES6 eventually.
There has been some other stuff but it's most kinda sorta interesting. I like Wonderlands but for the most part nothing too shocking.

Someone is review bombing Outer Worlds on GoG for some reason. Anyone who says anything good about the thing is highly disliked, but anyone who is critical of the game gets thumbs up. That said, there was a trailer released for the sequel. It's pretty funny: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClhDyC0ZECs

There's a fantasy western RPG in the same vein as The Ascent (twin stick shooter) on the horizon. It's called Weird West. I'm noting it only because I find it funny how fantasy westerns are suddenly popping up more often.

Looks like Konami has decided to step back into the AAA game development ring and there are new Silent Hill games in development, a remaster or remake of MGS3, and possibly a new Castlevania.

They've been running that franchise for years. Big money for them, too. They did have a few other mobile games, but for the most part they were milking those few key franchises with the odd other game. All of which sucked.

Bloober, who had partnered with Konami to do Silent Hill, has partnered with somebody else. Not sure what's going on there.
Sega has also partnered with MS to create a "major game"; however, there is one caveat: it's a PROPOSAL, not a done deal. Not even a serious deal. Lots of websites are passing this news off as an absolute certainty when it's more like just a fun idea someone had.
There has been a lot of hidden updates to Resident Evil 3 Remake recently which suggests the rumoured "Nemesis" edition is getting closer to being a reality. Not sure exactly what that means, but I'm pretty darn sure there won't be much in way of content expansion like everyone is hoping.

But I don't are about any game associated with them, so whatever.

Apparently there is a good chance regulators won't allow the entirety of the deal to go through. Pretty sure they will get all of Blizzard though.

Blizzard right now has some good IPs but their public image needs a massive clean up, plus they need new staff, as the ones responsible for the success moved on yonks ago. It's not the same developer it once was. I mean it's an embarrassment to lose subscribers to FF online.

Why would it be an embarassment? Apparently FF14 has a great story and its remained steady and true throughout its entire run whereas WoW changed radically after a few expansions. FF14 is also very fan servicy. Apparently the main reason they're looking at doing FFT2 is because of Ivalice's presence in FF14.
