Just seen the movie myself. It's tremendous fun. I recommend it highly. There's a mid and post credit scene.

Yep! Tails! With his usual voice actor, too.
So I'm hearing Jim Carrey is actually really good in this. Is that true?

Yes! Back to his 90s best. It's obvious he had loads of fun with the role. I don't think he steals the show as some people said, Ben Schwartz does a brilliant job as Sonic.

I always figured Carrey in the role of Robotnik is one of those "match made in heaven" type deals. It looks like he still goes a little overboard, but if he's actually funny, then yeah, sure. We are talking about a corny cartoon villain after all. It's not like the Mobius version.

He's well on the way to becoming the classic Robotnik by the end of the movie. Just look at the mid stinger. Bald, orange moustache and put some weight on. If we get a second movie, and it's odds on we will, I think we will see the Robotnik look of the games.

In an article that made me check we hadn't slipped to April early this year, somebody tried to argue Sonic should come out as gay in the next movie. Whilst Paramount might fall for such hare-brained thinking, thankfully nothing like that will happen without Sega signing off on it.

When will these idiots learn that beating a point into peoples' heads only sours us on the whole thing. Even my bisexual sister and her trans boyfriend hates the woke movement now.
Thankfully, companies that are not Netflix are still hesitant to touch on that subject with family programming.

I don't know. Hopefully the lesson Paramount takes from the Sonic movie, is that if you listen to the actual fans, and not the screaming minority on Twitter, you make money. Honestly given the amount of crap Hollywood has been spewing out just makes me appreciate Sonic all the more. Sadly it's not just Hollywood. The BBC is running Doctor Who into the ground with this woke shite.

And people wonder why I watch more and more family stuff. Outside of Netflix, family orientated programming never seems to have an agenda and the focus is always on delivering a good story. Everything else is becoming increasingly agenda driven. Even historical or crime dramas are getting woke which doesn't even make sense, but they do it anyway.
Well, whatever. It will pass. More and more programming isn't just failing, it's BOMBING. Hard. Losing millions will change anyone's mind.

Saw the movie.
Not bad. Rather enjoyable, actually. Honestly surprised to see so many smart decisions made. They drew upon the right material for this movie, such as Quicksilver's bullet time scenes, and set up something genuinely curious with the whole owl and evil tribes thing at the beginning. Choosing an origin story, which there really hasn't been one in the Sonic universe outside the odd lame comic, allowed them to explore some sides of Sonic that can't be explored in any of the current lore (ie, before he became fearless and developed his unbreakable attitude).
Carrey was amusing enough, but, to be fair, my favourite Robotnik comes from the one version where he was dead serious, so I'm a little biased on that front.
AND TAILS!!! Tails is one of my all time favourite characters in any form of media. Ever. I dunno why.

Looks like the script of the second movie has leaked. It pretty much follows the path I would have taken, kicking aside the human characters and focusing purely on Sonic (and Tails!). It also pretty much follows the story of the third game with Knuckles coming into the fold. Not the direction I would have taken. I would have left that to the third movie. I feel like there is enough to explore with Robotnik coming to Sonic's world and stumbling upon the lore of how he got his powers.

Sega recently stated that the reason why Sonic was successful is because they listened to fan feedback.
You might have heard the word "Duh" echoing in your head all day the other day. It wasn't your imagination. It was all the people saying that upon reading that article.

First reviews suggest the second movie isn't quite as good as the first, but not by much, so it's still good fun.

I'd probably go see it because I massively enjoyed the first one, and because there isn't really a lot I'd want to see from Hollywood.

I didn't like the second movie as much, feels too much like a typical episode of the Sonic show rather than a coherent movie; however, I imagine that is what most fans want.

Some fan made Sonic games. They're shockingly good and this one is even fully complete: This one, Utopia, is more classic but still looks good: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkI541FBbkQ
