I wish you were right about that, but I've seen massive arguments about accessibility everywhere. The game has brought on so much of the open world bandwagon crowd, and most of them come from Assassin's Creed hand holding games, that there are tons of angry brainless gamers out there frustrated by the discovery they actually suck at gaming.

Radahn, one of Elden Ring's uber hard bosses everyone hates, down. And I did it unpatched, before he was nerfed, and handicapped (using my TV's highest settings reduces the input lag substantially; I'm also not using any of the game's new special features like summons or special skills; playing it classic Souls style). I almost did it without any summoned help either, but I decided to give it one more go with summoned NPCs and that was enough to beat him which sucks. Forgot to save the video of the fight.

Unfortunately, my PS4 went and downloaded the patch for Elden Ring without my permission and it altered by save before I realized it did, so I had to finish the game off after all the nerfs and such which bugs me. Still, the final group of bosses were no joke, unlike the rest of the game, and required quite a bit of effort. I actually ended up getting burned out on the last few (Elden Ring might be TOO big a game), so I might have to get back to them. I've got some videos of the bosses I fought.
TINY TINA'S WONDERLANDS: It's Borderlands if it were a D&D game. For the most part it's more of the same except now the main "leveling" mechanic is the cross class system and the game takes a lot more creative liberties with how the guns function because now magic is a thing, so you get lots of guns that do crazy things. Gotta say, cross classing is pretty cool. It's neat combining two different classes, and you can always try a different combination. It's not as wild as it sounds, some of the combinations are pretty cut and dry, but I gotta tell you, it sure feels pretty darn awesome to build my own dragon mage-a warrior with its own pet dragon backed up by a full complement of spells-because I CHOSE to build that way rather than what a class tells me I can do. The character actually inspired me to create a new character for any story or RP.

Got a Switch!
...well, not for me, for my sister, but since it's with me until she can pick it up, I get to play it. Renting a few games to play until she can.

NINJA TURTLES-SHREDDER'S REVENGE: Excellent. Sound mechanics, deceptively simple move list that's easy to pick up but more difficult to master while simultaneously feeling expansive despite having such a simple button setup. Cute little leveling system tied to your performance and ability to complete various tasks while not completely locking you out of any content. April is kind of a silly character given all the other good characters they could have used, but that doesn't change the fact she is part of a fairly large roster including Casey Jones. Nice to see beat'em ups making a comeback.

DEEDLIT IN WONDER LABYRINTH: Very competent Metroidvania clearly inspired by Symphony of the Night right down to the "ghosting" effect that Alucard had.
Not many games in this round of GamePass that I would consider to be very good, although I haven't played Outer Wilds or Forgotten City yet.

I wasn't impressed by the Outer Wilds. The controls are aggravating. Feels like you're constantly running on ice even when piloting the ship. Maybe there is a cool game here, but it's hard to enjoy a chill game when I'm pulling my hair out over the controls.
I've also finally joined the current generation by purchasing and installing an RTX 2060 Super for my PC. In all likelihood it will go wasted given how I use my PC, but I bought it for the 12 gigs of VRAM, not the generation equivalent power.

HALO INFINITE: It's...well, Halo. I mean, I don't know about the campaign-the campaign hasn't been anything to write home about since 343 took over-but the multiplayer does play MUCH closer to how classic Halo played. And that's good. And it's free. But really, the main reason to bring this up is because it's the newest game I have access to that will test my new RTX 2060. So, how does it fair? Well...it runs pretty much like a current generation console, so...yay.

INSIDE: Cute little puzzle game. All atmosphere above all else. Neat story. Not as cool as Limbo, but the payoff is way more interesting given it goes reverse horror at the end.

THE FORGOTTEN CITY: If you like intrigue mixed with mystery and the odd bit of dungeoneering, it's certainly a neat little game although it does its fair share of virtue signaling. Probably the most interesting aspect of the game is the fact it's a Skyrim mod. Kind of gives you a glimpse of what a modern Elder Scrolls would look like.

Far cry new dawn. It's okay. Definitely an improvement over 5. Though it feels shorter. The only missions I had significant trouble with, was the fighting melee arena, and the demolition derby. The outposts were fun, and the upper tier ones, were quite challenging. Until I discovered the most broken companion ever. Horatio, the giant boar, though I think dire boar is more fitting. He can pretty much solo any outpost, aside from any enemies you have to kill because they're out of his reach.

Well, damn. They weren't kidding about PS5s selling out while you're in the middle of buying them. I tried to buy one from two different stores, and both sold out before I could finish the check out.
I also got an invite from Amazon to purchase one, but they want $950! That's $200 more than just buying it locally.
On topic, playing Borderlands 3. Honestly, I enjoyed Wonderlands more.

Finally finished off Strange Brigade's DLC. The new classes and levels aren't anything special. Such a shame since the overall idea and level design is actually very good, it's just the execution falls short in many areas. Still a fun little shooter though.

Mafia 3 It was mostly okayish. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended here. I managed to keep my underbosses alive through the play through. Vito was easily my favourite. Cassandra and the Irish mob boss, had much more interesting lieutenants, and frankly I would have rather had them as underbosses. Gameplay was variable. Control was definitely a bit sticky at times, and contributed to some of my deaths. When you unlock Vito's high end enforcers, combat becomes trivial. Missions did not feel special I enjoyed the music, though it felt like there wasn't a lot of variety in it. King of the road is an earworm. Also particularly enjoyed the use of "sympathy for the devil" in one mission.

I've never been able to get into GTA clones. Driving around is boring, and I don't see the appeal in romanticizing criminal syndicates.

The one thing mafia 3 doesn't do, is romanticize the criminal life. It's shown frequently it's a bad life to be in, and it corrupts you. It's why I chose the "leave" ending.

Then I cancelled the order, heh. $800 is just a wee bit too much.

Actually, you can get an Xbox S for $300 which is a much better value than a Switch, and the X was just $500 and we know the Xbox is an overall better value than a PS5...assuming you're okay with all the DRM that will rob you of all your games if you ever lose access to the internet for some reason, heh. It's really only the PS5 that's expensive.
Frankly, if the S came with a DVD drive, I'd totally buy one.

Knocking out my backlog of PS+ games. Played The Witness, Portal Knights, Fallen Legion, Slay the Spire, Deep Rock Galactic, Concrete Genie, and a few others.
Deep Rock Galactic required a special PS4 update just to run, so I didn't bother with that one. For the most part, the only game that held my attention for any decent length of time was Fallen Legion since it plays like Valkyrie Profile albeit a little button mashy. Other games like The Witness weren't bad, but they just weren't really my kind of games.
I suspect the next round of PS+ games which includes Titanfall 2, ARK, Hoods and Outlaws, Days Lost, and Zombie Army will prove to be more fun.

Hoods and Outlaws requires a special account to play. Deleted.
So I replayed Shadow of the Colossus. Gorgeous, of course, but still the same old game but with new problems that weren't in the original.
TITANFALL 2: Huh. I wasn't expecting this to be so good. I always liked the Titans and all but not so much the pilot gameplay. Wished there was a campaign mode. And that's what we got. And it's actually very good. I didn't like one level very much but overall...very slick and stylish game with buttery smooth controls. Was $5. Decided to nab it. EA and their super intrusive policies still ruins everything though, heh.

Mostly just replaying Dark Souls, and I had a hankering to replay Resident Evil 4, although I ended up playing Revelations instead. That game is woefully under appreciated.
This did give rise to the idea of challenging my sister to an RE4 race.

RETURNAL: Mechanically and atmospherically sound, of course, and is overall a great game. What really makes it interesting is the similarities to Metroid. If you were to change the protagonist into Samus and give her the Samus suit, you'd be wholly convinced this is, in fact, a Metroid title. The environmental storytelling, the way you find items, the setting, the feel of the world, the movements of the monsters...heck, you even get many of the same abilities. Unfortunately, the rogue-like elements get in the way. There is nothing really wrong with them, I just don't like them, but if they ever did a sequel, removed the rogue-like stuff, and rejigged the game to be like a Metroid game, I'd totally back it.

CALLISTO PROTOCOL: An otherwise cool little game ruined by a terrible combat system. It's amazing they went from having such a solid system in Dead Space to what feels like a devolved version of said system in a much newer game. It's just flat out not fun. *The final boss fight is horribly designed. The boss is much faster than you are, so there is little opportunity to put distance between you and the boss, and this is mostly pointless because trying to melee the boss leads to an instant 1-shot. There are bombs and items hidden around the perimeter, but some genius thought it was a good idea to cloak the boss arena in a misty, fog-like filter that makes it difficult to see all of the items. Combine that with the GRIP power being awfully finicky about grabbing the item you want and the overall slow, laborious movement of the player, and the whole fight just feels unfair and totally unfun (and this is from a Souls player). To top it all off, there are these small, hard to see enemies that occasionally spawn that can one shot the player.
And my sister and I did our RE4 race. I won.

MARVEL'S MIDNIGHT SUNS: I grabbed this game under the assumption it was XCOM with a superhero skin, but with simpler mechanics represented by a card based system. Anyone who described it that way clearly never played XCOM. It's much more accurate to compare this game to one of those mobile phone turn based RPGs that utilize random card draws to fuel all of the attacks, except this game has a much higher budget. And I generally really dislike card-based systems. But it's still early going so this game has time to grow on me.' *You do end up getting more ways to use the card abilities, and it does add more layers of strategy to the gameplay as it goes on, and it is kind of neat how you can walk around the hub and interact with heroes and there are so many different references to the comics...but I just really don't like card-based systems. I'd much rather collect abilities and refine and customize them as I choose rather than have them randomly generated.
CRISIS CORE REUNION: I'm quite surprised. Impressed, really. I heard the original game was clunky and awkward and was very hit or miss, both in terms of gameplay and story, but the actual gameplay is on par with some of the better JRPGs there like a Tales or Ys game. The remake replaces the combat mechanics with FF7R's, which is already a vast improvement, but it actually features a few refinements that I gotta say is more fun than FF7R. No more of that stance break stuff, and Zack's movements are way more snappy and quick. Enemies are aggressive. Controls are more intuitive and makes good use of hot buttons. Boss fights feel Souls-like at times, but faster (and less punishing, but I hear the game can get crazy punishing). Add in the FF7R graphics, and this is actually a better game than your typical run of the mill JARPG. Story hasn't really improved though, but that's okay. I never really cared about the story.
