Lia doesn't believe Urol has any intention of harming her. She doesn't recall seeing a potion like this one before, nor can she determine exactly what it is supposed to do.
"Yep, just drink it all," Urol responds.
(The rod that was in the pool. I apparently never put it in anyone's character sheet, but I know Kit had it. See the end of page 14.)

Lia looks at Urol again, then takes a deep breath, opens the vial, and drinks it down. Does she feel anything?

(oh yeah)
Lia pours the liquid into her mouth, and is immediately assaulted by the foulest taste she's ever experienced. Her eyes nearly bug out of her head, sending Urol into a fit of laughter, to the point of nearly crying.
Lia manages to swallow the potion without gagging.
"I should have mentioned," Urol manages through sobs and tears, "I haven't actually had a chance to study the potion, and I don't know what all the islanders did during that ceremony with Illyria."
Despite the nasty taste, Lia does feel somewhat better, however.

(Ah. I remember handing that thing off, but not James handing it back)
"Oh wait, that rod," Kit says as he produces the mysterious rod. He tosses it to James. "All yours, kid."

Lia coughs and blinks a few times, choking down the vile taste. She takes a drink from her waterskin and does a heal check to see if the potion did anything other than provide amusement for Urol.

Kit hands the rod over, and James fits it neatly into the the matching colored pedestal. There's a click, but then nothing happens.
James continues studying it for a few moments. "I think we need another rod," he says finally.
**********************
Lia examines herself. She realizes that she hasn't truly rid herself of the disease, but the tainted aura she felt earlier is gone.
(Sense that probably isn't clear:
Lia knows that the curse has been lifted, but the disease is still present, so she'll need to remove it, and then repair her ability damage)
"Feeling better?" Urol asks. "You know, I always thought that arrogant Elf bit was just a fasade."
(And incase this whole conversation hasn't been clear, Urol is being an arrogant jackass himself)

(It isn't clear? If Kit heard that whispering about charging Lia for the potion, he would have tackled Urol and threatened to throw him off the bridge) Kit will examine the room. He's not looking for treasure, just scanning for anything of interest, although if he does Spot any treasure during this process he won't ignore it. He suggests the party begins looking for the other rod, starting with the unexplored room, not the black pudding room.

Lia does not reply immediately to Urol. He seems to be enjoying himself as it is, and she is grateful for removing the curse, regardless. She reaches for her prayer beads and uses the healing bead to cast Remove Disease on herself.

Kit spots some dampness near the large doors. It must be what caused the copper to tarnish. (+10XP)
James returns to the crypt area, and begins searching for a rod. "Listen up, we need to find another rod to get some doors open. It probably has a blue sphere on top."
Amelia and Lirith finish stripping Illyria's corpse. They wrap the body in a large piece of sail cloth.
Lia activates the prayer bead. The last traces of the disease are chased from her body.
"You look like you're feeling better," James says to Lia as he examines each of the niches in turn.

Lia nods to James. "yes, I've purged the disease from my body, thanks in part to Urol. If I may use a potion from the supplies, I should be ready to go."

"Of course, whatever you need," James replies. "And thank you Urol. I know its hard, but we all have to work as a team if we're going to make it to Farshore."
James continues his search of the crypt area.

(Yeah, it's a good thing Gandt didn't hear any of that. Things are tough enough as is without the party self-destructing... "Seems the only way to go is forward." Gandt at least makes an effort to open the big iron doors before hunting around for the blue rod. Assuming that doesn't work, he backtracks to the crypt, keeping close to the group. Make the black pudding room a last resort. As he passes Lia, he gives her a pat on the back, but it's really almost a punch on the shoulder. Maybe it's intended to be comforting, but Gandt's not exactly good at that.

Lia retrieves the potion of Lesser Restoration and drinks it. After that, she will cure herself with her wand, then help look for the missing rod.
Despite Urol's attitude, she is in a much better mood. ^^

Gandt tries the large water doors. They don't budge at all, despite repeated efforts. He raps on the door, and it seems rather solid (Gandt judges that the doors are about a foot thick or so +25XP) He passes Lia, nearly shoving her into one of the niches with his attempt at comfort, before moving on down the passage. Urol follows in his wake, making an effort at helping out. He pause at the corridor without niches and begins taking notes on the different carvings. Lia drinks the potion, and restores 2 points of Con damage (adding 8HP back to her total). She then proceeds to heal herself, which takes 5 charges from the wand (she's currently at -2 Con, -3Cha). With that out of the way, she begins helping to search for the rod. Entering the short hall where Urol is taking notes, she immediately notices something odd with the far wall. She presses the nose of one of the skeletal dogs and the wall shakes, then slides back to reveal another room beyond. (+25XP) In the middle of the room lies a sarcophagus covered with more of the same carvings, as are the walls of the room. "Interesting," Urol mutters. (The moving wall was loud enough so that everyone heard. new map)

Lia slips into the room and continues to search for the rod. She stays away from the centerpiece, figuring Urol will climb all over it anyway.

Urol does indeed follow Lia into the room, but he doesn't actually touch anything, continuing to take notes and muttering to himself.
The room is a little dusty, but other than that, Lia doesn't spot anything just lying around.

(Blah. The Ring of Jumping's bonus doesn't stack with Kit's existing bonuses. Anyone else feel like boosting their jumping ability?)
The sarcophagus definitely tickles Kit's curiousity, but with all the mummies in this place and the disease popping out of the first sarcophagus he opened, he's not so sure if he wants to open another one. Maybe if there were more healers on hand to cure Mummy Rot, but right now Kit is too hesitant to risk it. He will do a quick search of the room for the rod, but he won't touch the sarcophagus.

Kit performs a through and rather time consuming search of the room. James arrives, as do Lirith and Amelia, and the three begin helping Kit with his search.
Amelia spots something strange on the floor, and the four stop to examine it more closely. As they do so, Kit realizes there are numerous other slight indentions on the floor. They're irregularlly spaced, so they're likely not part of a design. With a sudden realization dawning like the proverbial light bulb, Kit takes his dagger and carefully traces the edges of one of the indentations. It's nearly perfectly square, and recessed slightly.
"Some sort of trap?" James asks.
Kid nods. (+50XP)
Urol, Lirith and Amelia nearly trip over themselves vacating the room, leaving James, Kit and Lia standing within.
(Kit realizes the most likely trigger point for the trap would be the sarcophagus.)

James shrugs, and moves closer to examine the sarcophagus.
"I don't see anything that looks like a trap mechanism," he says to Kit.
Lia walks outside the room.

Kit looks up at the ceiling (you'd be amazed how much stuff you miss in video and D&D games by not looking at the ceiling), then down at the floor. He is trying to identify a "ground zero" zone for the trap so somebody else can open the sarcophagus without getting hurt, but if he can't clearly identify this area, he will note the sarcophagus probably triggers the trap and suggests leaving it alone. Unless somebody thinks they can disarm it. (You know, you see lots of weird and awesome traps in games. I wonder how many of them are backed by actual history? This sounds interesting. I'll see what I can find) *I found this, and considering what this guy says basically matches my own research into ancient civilizations, I'm inclined to believe him: www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mboobytraps.html

Gandt stays outside of the room, not wanting anything to do with any traps. "Unless you can set it off from way over here, I say don't mess with it."

Kit examines the sarcophagus. He easily finds the trap mechanism, making James look rather foolish (+50XP). He studies it for several moments, then whips out his dagger and slides it into a crack. There's a click, and James cringes, but nothing happens. (+50XP)
(Trap successfully disabled)
Together, Kit and James slide the sarcophagus lid off, revealing a well preserved corpse. The corpse is clutching a rod with a blue sphere in his left hand, and a silver dagger in his right. A necklace with a large inset pink pearl is around its neck.
(Kit leveled up!)

Kit will call for a Detect Magic check.

James takes the rod, using his dagger to gently remove it from the corpse's hand.
"Thanks, Kit," he says with a nod.
He then turns to the remaining items in the sarcophagus. "The dagger's clean," he says, "There's no trace of magic on it. The pearl is magical, although I'm not sure what it's purpose is. I would have to study it further."
With that, James heads back to the pedestal room and places the rod in the remaining pedestal. With a click, the doors swing open, momentarily blinding those in the room with James with the bright light streaming from outside.
Blinking, James suddenly realizes someone is standing on the otherside of the door. He draws his daggers before demanding, "Who are you?"
(Bebop, time to introduce yourself. For the second time.)

The stranger raises his mace and braces his shield at the intruders.
"I might ask who you are sir, if you happen to have any part in the undead who stalk these halls I can assure you that I shall employ all the powers of the Sun to send you and your kind back to whatever abyss spawned you."
He sees each member of the party file in(assuming he can see them all) and then notices that each of them is most assuredly not undead.
At this, he lowers his mace a bit before addressing the party once more.
"I may have to apologize, I am the only survivor of an expedition that had been sent to find an expedition sent to find the "chosen" of the Church of the Whirling Fury. I'm afraid all I have found is hellish ruins and creatures plucked straight out of ones nightmares."
"I might inquire as to your intentions, perhaps we can aid one another."
He lowers his mace a bit further, but retains something of a battle ready stance, still.
