(They're large, about the size of Gandt, maybe a bit larger by Lia's estimate. Currently, they are in the deep water.)

(oh... not good...)
Lia will try to determine and improve the mood of the one closer, to the right (@ nw marker), using Wild Empathy.

(The crabs are not currently moving, simply standing ready)
The group gives Lia an opportunity to try and communicate with the crabs.
Lia moves towards the singular crab (but not actually into the water), and begins studying it. She then makes a series of movements that look more ridiculous with each passing moment. The crab suddenly settles down into the sand at the bottom of the pool.
(Successfully convinced the crab to leave the party alone! +135XP Lia, +140XP James/Grove, +120 Kit/Gandt.
Only two left now.)

"Hey, good job! Let's see if we can do that again," Kit says with a cheer.

Gandt just scratches his head at Lia's little crab dance. He'll keep looking for the crabs and keeping an eye on the tide.

Lia feels confident from the first one and will try again with the closer of the two.
(How close do I have to be?)

(30 feet, which means she'll have to enter the water to get either of the crabs attention. The whole party is now aware of the position of the crabs, btw.)
James looks at Kit, "I guess it pays to have her around," he says with a laugh.
James appears to have recovered from his initial shock over the crabs.
(Does Lia enter the water?)

Kit laughs at James' comment. "Despite appearances, and as unlikely as it may sound, I really can't do everything."
(I love RP'ing Kit ;D)

Lia looks at the water, realizing she's not going to be able to reach the crab without entering it. She turns to James, slightly miffed from the comment. "We'll have to fight those. I can't get close enough and entering the water will likely provoke them regardless."

"Perhaps we can make a run for it?" James eyes the crabs warily.
The water level has risen a few inches while the group is standing around.
Lirith suddenly walks up to Gandt, "How's your throwing arm, big guy?"
(You know, for some reason, I had forgotten about Skald....
For clarity: Lirith is suggesting that Gandt throw the lighter party members towards the far shore.)

(You're always forgetting NPC's lol)
Lia doesn't like the sound of this and makes sure she's not the closest to Gandt. She walks over to Tamaska and discusses something with him, pointing behind the crab that's now indifferent.

Gandt cracks his knuckles, liking this idea. "Awright, who's first?" Nevermind that it's a good 70 feet to the far shore.

Kit frowns, then jerks on one of his horns. "Wouldn't it make more sense to quietly swim to the other shore instead of tossing people, say, 10 feet, and creating an enormous splash?"

"Ten feet?!" Gandt snorts. "I'm descended from Graal Gun-Arm, champion of the shot-put! I can do a heck of a lot better than that! Now, who wants to fly?"
If he gets no volunteers, though, he tries to find some big rocks to throw at the crabs. That should at least distract them a bit while the others cross to the other bank.

"It is awfully far," James says as he stares at the far shore.
"I think swimming is our only real option."
"I'm definitely not letting that behemoth throw me," Urol yells at Lirith.
"Too bad," Lirith retorts. "I'd like to see him throw you right to those crabs."
"Why you little..."
"Who you calling little, pipsqueak"
"Stop it, both of you," James barks.
Gandt spots two decently sized (20 lbs or there abouts) rocks he could use to throw at the crabs.
Round 1:
Kit moves to the side opposite the crabs and starts swimming. He makes it 20 feet.
Gandt throws one of the rocks in an attempt to distract the crabs.
Grove waits to see what the crabs do.
Lia continues to talk to her animals.
James readies his crossbow.
Amelia swims after Kit, while Lirith, Avner, Skald and Urol wait to see what the crabs do.
The crabs move toward the rock Gandt threw. Avner starts leading the horse across the bridge, while Skald and Lirith move to cover him. Grove and Urol follow behind.
Round 2:
Kit continues swimming, going another 20 feet.
Gandt throws the second rock. The moves out onto the bridge himself.
Lia continues talking to her animals.
"Come on, we gotta go," James says to her, then moves out onto the bridge after Gandt.
Amelia continues to follow Kit, but she's fallen about 10 feet behind. Grove, Lirith, Avner, Urol and Skald continue moving with the horse.
The crabs move toward the second rock.... (really stupid crabs here....)

Lia sends Tamaska to swin behind the docile crab. She then stands up, nods to James and uses Wild Shape to turn into a Sailsnake. She promptly lifts into the air, roughly 15 feet, and proceeds to cross the water in this way.
*Thornd**e flies alongside, I presume?

There's a bridge? Anyway, Gandt keeps going unless it looks like anybody needs help. How far away are the crabs now?

Round 3:
Kit swims another 20 feet, he's almost made it to the shore.
Gandt moves a little further along the submerged road, keeping an eye on the crabs (they're about 45 feet from Gandt currently).
Lia suddenly transforms into something that looks like a cross between a snake and a kite and takes to the air. James nearly faints at the sight. Thorndyke takes flight as well, while Tamaska begins swimming.
James struggles to stay up with Gandt, while the rest of the group move along behind them.
The crabs suddenly stop probing at the rocks and turn back towards the party. They reach the edge of the submerged road, about 20 feet from the stragglers (James, Grove and Urol) and 25 from Tamaska.
Round 4:
Kit pulls himself out on the roadway.
Gandt turns and waits.
Lia flies toward the far shore. Tamaska struggles in the water.
James reaches Gandt.
Avner and Skald plod along with the horse, they're about ten feet from the far shore. Amelia continues swimming, she's about 10 feet from where Kit exited the water. Urol struggles to catch up with James. Grove reaches James and Gandt.
The crabs climb up onto the submerged road and split up. One goes after Tamaska, and James fires his readied crossbow at it. The crossbow fails to fire as the mechanism jams. The crab stops ten feet from Tamaska (sort of between Tamaska and the rest of the party). The second crab comes up behind Urol, stopping just out of Urol's reach.

Kit will support Urol and Tamaska with his bow. He obviously can't save both, so he will focus on whichever of the two crabs are easier to target and/or whichever of the two party members are in more trouble.
Full attack option at all times.

Lia will try to dive down to the one near Tamaska and use a fly-by attack of Venom Spray.
*I don't exactly where on the map I am. I should be able to make the turn, since I can turn up to 90 degrees within 10 feet.

Gandt props up his tower shield and makes for the back of the line to fend off the crab there. Next round, he'll Shield Slam it.

Grove draws and loads his crossbow (I can't remember if I already had him do this) and will fire at the nearest crab in an attempt to provide support for the others.

Round 5:
Kit fires a pair of arrows at the crab heading towards Tamaska. They bounce harmlessly off the crab's shell.
Gandt moves past Urol and sets up his shield as a defense.
Tamaska continues to struggle, managing to go only about 20 feet. Lia turns and heads back to help her companion, closing on the crab and suddenly unleashing a blast of venomous breath, nailing the crab right in the eye stalks (blind 3 rounds).
James turns and helps Urol.
Avner and Skald make it onto the shore beside Kit. Skald draws his bow and readies it while Avner moves a little further down the road. Lirith almost reaches the shore. Amelia swims to shore and draws her sword. Urols swims along.
The crab facing Gandt tests the half-merrow's defenses, but can't penetrate the shield. The remaining crab thrashes around blindly.
Round 6:
Kit fires another pair of arrows. This time he hits with both arrows (-13HP).
Gandt tries to slam the crab but the crab deftly deflects his attack with its claw. Gandt takes a step back and resets his shield.
Lia turns back to follow Tamaska who has nearly reached the far shore now.
James falls back with Urol, trying to clear the jam in his crossbow. He succeeds in removing the shattered shaft.
Skald fires an arrow at the crab Kit targeted. He hits as well (-4HP). Urol once again struggles in the water. Lirith comes ashore and readies her bow as well.
The blinded and wounded crab heads for deeper waters. The remaining crab moves around Gandt, apparently trying to get between him and the far shore. It doesn't quite make it back up on the submerged road.
(Tamaska is 10 feet from the far shore, Urol and James are 20 feet, and Gandt is 35 feet. The non-blinded crab will come back up onto the bridge between Gandt and James/Urol next round. The other crab is about 30 feet from Gandt, in the deep water.)

Gandt keeps moving to try and head off the crab (double move). If he can't keep up and it manages to block his path, he makes it regret its decision.

Lia will fly up the path and land about 30-40 feet farther than the party. Assuming it's safe and she has time to draw her weapon, she will change out of her Wild Shape, draw her bow, and fire on the non-injured crab.

Despite hitting the crab last round, Kit decides his arrows aren't going to be much help, plus Gandt seems to be doing fine. Kit will turn around and see if there are any dangers to Spot behind the party and the path beyond.
